After teasing it for days, Xiaomi has finally launched its first-ever 4K monitor in China. This product is officially called ‘Xiaomi Monitor 27-inch 4K’. Although the company has teased some of its highlights, let’s take a look at what all features it has to offer.

Xiaomi Monitor 27-inch 4K Specifications and Features

As the name suggests, the new Xiaomi monitor with model number XMMNT27NU sports a 27-inch screen with minimal bezels. This IPS LCD panel has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K), 1.07 billion colors, and 400 nits brightness.

The PANTONE-certified display has a color accuracy of delta E<1, a 99% DCI-P3 color gamut, a 100% sRGB color gamut. There’s a dedicated physical key to switch between multiple professional modes for different scenarios like CG design, CAD design, and more.

The panel is TÜV Rheinland-certified for low blue light emission. It also supports VESA DisplayHDR 400 HDR standard and DC dimming.

The monitor offers a wide variety of connectivity options like 2 x HDMI 2.1, 1 x DP 1.4, 1 x USB Type-C, 2 x USB Type-A, and 1 x 3.5mm headphone jack. The USB Type-C port supports data transfer, audio/video transmission, and up to 90W power output.

The product has a vent for heat dissipation, a magnetic cover to hide ports, and a hole in the stand for cable management. Last but not least, it can be adjusted up-down/sides, used horizontally/vertically, and can be wall-mounted.

Xiaomi Monitor 27-inch 4K Price and Availability

The Xiaomi Monitor 27-inch 4K is priced at ¥3,499 ($549) in China and comes with a 3-year warranty. It is already up for pre-order in the country at a discounted price tag of ¥2,999 ($470) for a limited time.

At present, it’s not known whether this monitor will make its way to international markets.

Last year, Xiaomi launched a 24.5-inch monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate in China with model number XMMNT245HF. An updated version (XMMNT245HF1) of this product with a 165Hz refresh rate and NVIDIA G-SYNC support made its debut in June 2021. Just a few months later, the Chinese tech giant has now announced yet another new monitor in the series with a 240Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync Premium support. The latest one is officially called Xiaomi Fast LCD Monitor 24.5-inch 240Hz (XMMNT245HF2).

The latest monitor from Xiaomi sports a 24.5-inch LCD panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 16.7 million colors, a 240Hz refresh rate, and a 178° viewing angle. The screen has a brightness of 400 nits, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, a 16:9 aspect ratio, a 1ms GTG response time.

The canvas supports AMD FreeSync Premium, VESA DisplayHDR 400, and DC dimming. It covers 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and has a color accuracy of ΔE<1. The display is also certified by TÜV Rheinland and SGS for low blue light emission.

As far as ports are concerned, the monitor comes with 1 x DP 1.2, 2 x HDMI 2.1, 1 x 3.5mm headphone jack, and DC in. Further, it can be tilted forward and backward, moved up and down, roasted vertically, rotated left and right, and wall-mounted.

The product comes with minimal bezels, an air vent for heat dissipation, a magnetic cover to hide ports, and a hole for cable management. Last but not least, it ships with a base, a stand, a power adapter, a DP cable, and 4 x wall studs.

The new 24.5-inch 240Hz monitor from Xiaomi is currently listed on XiaomiYoupin with a price tag of ¥1,599 ($250) and a 3-year warranty. Interested customers can pre-order this product right away in the company’s home country.

At present, it’s not known whether this monitor will make its way to international markets.

Months later, the company has now released a new version of this product with a 165Hz refresh rate and NVIDIA G-SYNC support. The latest monitor is officially known as Mi Fast LCD Monitor 24.5-inch 165Hz (XMMNT245HF1).

The newly launched Xiaomi monitor flaunts a 24.5-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (FHD), 165Hz refresh rate, 95% DCI-P3 color gamut, 100% sRGB color gamut, 16.7 million colors, and 16:9 aspect ratio.

 The screen has a color accuracy of ΔE < 2, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 1000000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 400 nits typical brightness, 178° viewing angle, and 1.6mm three-sided bezels with a comparatively larger chin.

The display is VESA DisplayHDR 400-certified and is also compatible with NVIDIA G-SYNC. It supports up to 2ms GTG response time, DC Dimming, and is also TÜV Rheinland-certified for low blue light emission.

Earlier today (9th December 2020), a new report surfaced that suggested that Xiaomi could be working on a new curved monitor. This new monitor is said to launch in the first quarter of 2021 and will feature a 30 inch screen.

Xiaomi is known to diversify its consumer electronics portfolio, and had even added displays, monitors and gaming monitors to its vast arsenal of products last year. Back in October 2019, the Chinese tech giant launched the Xiaomi Mi Surface 34 inch Gaming Display. It was the first from the company and featured a resolution of 3440x1440px with a 21:9 aspect ratio. This display was primarily targeted for gamers and offered a high refresh rate panel with a 1500R curvature.

We had reviewed the Mi Surface 34 inch Gaming Display, which featured 121 percent sRGB color gamut and AMD FreeSync support. Last month, the company launched the Xiaomi Fast LCD 24.5 inch Monitor in China. Notably, this new 30 inch curved gaming monitor could be the successor to the Mi Surface 34 inch Gaming Display. Although, that is just speculation so take it with a pinch of salt for now. Back in May, we had also reported on multiple upcoming monitors that were expected to launch later in the year. These included monitors from its subsidiary, Redmi.

Notably, it was also recently reported that the last shipments of the Mi Surface 34 inch curved displays had been completed, and its production has been suspended due to the lack of supply from Samsung. According to an ITHome report, a 30 inch variant is being announced by Videocom in partnership with AUO and is expected to hit the market sometime in the first quarter of next year. Thus, the new Xiaomi monitor could be expected to feature this panel. Unfortunately, we have no finer details or specifications regarding the upcoming monitor, so stay tuned for more updates

Xiaomi, which has entered into almost all categories of consumer electronics products, has been trying to establish its presence in the gaming space. After launching its gaming laptops, the company is now focusing on monitors.

Today, Xiaomi has announced a new monitor in its home country China, dubbed as Xiaomi Fast LCD Monitor. It is currently available for pre-order through JD.com and is priced at 1,499 yuan, which is approximately $224.

However, those who pre-book the device in China with a deposit of 100 yuan (~$15) will be able to purchase it for just 999 yuan (~$149). The company is expected to start shipping the product from 2nd November.

The newly announced Xiaomi Fast LCD monitor comes with 24.5-inch IPS display with support for a Full HD screen resolution of 1080. Justifying the “fast” branding in its name is the support for the 144Hz refresh rate and rapid response of GTG 2ms.

The display offers a maximum brightness of 400cd/m2 and has support for 95 percent DCI-P3 wide color gamut and 100 percent sRGB. It also has support for Adaptive-Sync smart display technology that keeps the display refresh rate in sync with the number of frames transmitted by the video card.

Further, the company adds that the monitor‘s display is also HDR400 certified and supports HDR for ultra-high-quality images that offer a better viewing experience. It has two HDMI 2.0 ports, one DisplayPort 1.2, a headphone connector, and a power port.

As for the design, this new monitor from Xiaomi comes with support for lifting and rotating the panel for adjusting the display angle on the stand. In line with the design of other productions from the company, this one also looks minimal and sleek.

Xiaomi India has a habit of sending out surveys before launching any new products. Back in July, the company shared a survey for televisions and based on that the company launched Mi TV 4A Horizon Edition last week in the country. It may even launch further new models at the Smarter Living 2021 event scheduled for September 29. That said, the fim has now sent out a new survey for monitors.

Xiaomi sells a wide variety of products in India but it debuted its laptops only this year. Now, the company seems to be interested in bringing its monitors to India, as per a survey shared by the company with MIUI 12 Pilot Testers.

This survey asks the participants a total of 15 questions, which include preferred size, type of the panel, resolution, refresh rate, response time, color gamut, price, and more. 

Currently, Xiaomi sells the following 3 monitor models on Mi.com China.

• Mi Curved Gaming Monitor 34”
• Mi Monitor 27″ 165Hz
• Redmi Monitor 1A

However, globally, it only sells the curved monitor. But since India is one of the key markets for the company outside its home country, it may debut one of those upcoming monitor models in the region, which was leaked in May.

Anyway, this is just a speculation from our end based on the official Xiaomi India survey form. Hence, we would consider you to take this piece of information with a pinch of salt.

Ever since Redmi became an independent brand, it has been releasing all sorts of products similar to its parent company Xiaomi. According to a new leak, the brand will be soon launching monitors in different sizes as well as for various purposes.

There’s no much information available regarding the first Redmi monitor except for its screen size. As per an internal document, the regular monitor will be launched in June with a 23.8-inch panel. The leak also suggests its price will be less than 600 Yuan ($84), which is insane for a monitor at this size.

There are also plans to launch Redmi-branded regular larger 27-inch monitor as well as 23.8-inch and 27-inch gaming monitors.

Apart from the above-mentioned models, there will be three more monitors with Xiaomi branding. A 27-inch gaming monitor will be released in July, which will be followed by a smaller 24.5-inch gaming monitor in September. There will be also a 29.5 or 27-inch 4K monitor in November.

Unfortunately, the pricing for these models is unknown at the moment. But going by the previous monitors launched by Xiaomi, the upcoming products will be priced competitively.

Xiaomi Mi Surface

Since Xiaomi started producing digital devices beyond smartphones, we’ve seen how they enhanced their product variety and boosted the market share of different product types. One of its greatest advantages is pricing. This time the Mi surface display is only sold in China. As usual, Xiaomi attached its minimalistic design to the Mi Surface with relatively reliable manufacturing.

Design&Specs

The Mi surface display comes with 2K, 3440×1440 ultra-clear resolution. And it is 34 inches in diagonal length and has a cinematic 21:9 aspect ratio. It can display 16.7 million colors with a typical 3000:1 contrast ratio and up to 300nit brightness, and Xiaomi claims that it covers 121% of the sRGB and 85% of the NTSC color gamut. Meanwhile, it features a 144Hz refresh rate and AMD’S FreeSync synchronization technology and 1500R curvature design. According to unofficial sources, the LCD seems to use a VA panel from SAMSUNG Display.

The Mi surface display was released in October with a pre-order price at 286USD, but right now it sells at around 357USD. Even though, it’s still one of the best budgets at such pricing.

From these specs, it’s no doubt that the Mi Surface is a competitive new entrant in its Market. The Mi surface was designed primarily for gamers and multimedia enthusiasts, which is why it has a 4ms GtG response time as well as a refresh rate of 144Hz strengthened by AMD’s FreeSync technology.

Appearance

At first glance, the narrow bezels on three of its sides are very impressive. About the Mi surface appearance, it features a minimalistic design, which is much smarter than most traditional gaming display manufacturers. It makes it look much lighter and more integrated. And the horizontal wide aspect ratio definitely gave me an incredible vision and gaming experience. Talking about its connectors, the Mi Surface display has 2 HDMI inputs, 2 DP inputs and an audio output, which could have great compatibility for gamers or general users to connect multiple devices.

Similar to many other displays, the buttons are placed on the back of the indicators, and we can see the Xiaomi LOGO on the back as well. the adjustable bracket of the display supports lifting, rotating and tilting. And it can be replaced with a wall-mounted bracket. The input voltage is from 100V to 240V, which means that it supports almost all voltage standards on this planet. Another great feature is that the bracket also supports cable management. You can open the cover and view the installation instructions.

Color coverage

To learn how exactly the display performance, we did some quality tests. Start from color coverage. The results showed that it reached a value of 100%sRGB and 82% AdobeRGB. Though the NTSC gamut was not marked, it should be close to the color gamut of AdobeRGB. 100% sRGB coverage is good enough to cover the most widely used color space on the internet. As a gaming display, it’s already better than most rivals.

Contrast

As for its brightness and contrast performance, under high brightness, the contrast stably remained at about 1550:1, which is quite a good result. And the brightness changes were also pretty stable and uniform without significant distinction when having brightness adjustment.

Color uniformity

And then we tested its color uniformity. At 100% brightness, the colors across the screen performed pretty well with a delta E under 2.4. At 50% brightness, the delta E is at a range from 0 to 3.2. Combined with other results, the panel was able to maintain pretty good color uniformity. We should know that it was not positioned as a professional display for image processing.

Color accuracy

About its color accuracy, the average delta E is 1.66, and the maximum is 2.83, which is very impressive as a gaming display.

OSD MENU

In addition to the quality of the screen, Xiaomi brought a practical OSD menu for the Mi surface. Through software optimization, users can slightly improve the gaming experience. It provides a variety of setting options, not just the common brightness, contrast, color gamma and so on, but also including multiple image-presets, multi-window modes, response speed settings, and LowBlue mode.

The 144Hz refresh rate is a great option for first-person shooting games. the high refresh rate can provide a smoother experience. Especially you can turn on the high response speed mode to get a better competitive state when you’re playing FPS games.

Streaking is one of the disadvantages of VA panels. Mi Surface display is no exception. But users can open the high response speed settings to reduce the streaking problem.

As I used it for a while, I found that the Multi-window modes are the most useful feature in the OSD menu. The 34-inch size plus a 21:9 aspect ratio is suitable for multitasking operation. Not just under win10 system, you can also use the option of split-screen setting to display two signal sources, and can be set to left-and-right-split mode and in-picture mode.

It’s really hard to believe that the Mi surface display is the first monitor product of this brand. A very competitive price plus relatively high performance. there is no doubt that it will become one of the best gaming displays at such a price level.
