As predicted, Xiaomi unveiled a brand new handset in its Redmi Note lineup, namely the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 phablet. Thanks to the numerous leaks in the past couple of weeks, we knew a lot about this new handset and almost everything has turned out to be true!
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is as impressive as we thought. It comes with the MTK Helio X10 flagship chipset which features eight 64-bit cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.2GHz. This is definitely a killer chipset inside a mid-range phablet capable of handling almost any task. There are eight Cortex A53 cores clocked at 2.2GHz. Along with this chip, there will be 2GB RAM on board along with two different internal storage options, 16GB and 32GB (Redmi Note 2 Prime). It supports MicroSD up to 32GB.
The Redmi Note 2 will feature a large 5.5-inch display with full HD 1080p display. At the back, there will be a powerful 13MP camera (f/2.2 aperture) (Samsung/ OV) sensor with PDAF (phase detection auto focus). The focus times is said to be super fast, up to 0.1s. Up front there will be a 5MP OV camera with Beautify feature.
Inside, there will be a removable 3060mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0. The overall body measures just 8.25mm in thickness with the weight around 160 grams. As for software, the Redmi Note 2 runs on MIUI 7 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
The phone supports 4G dual SIM cards. There’s even an IR port on top which lets the phone act as a remote to your home appliances. It will come in five different colors namely, white, black, pink, brown, and light blue. The TD-LTE + TD-SCDMA version starts at just 799 yuan ($125) while the TD-LTE + FDD-LTE costs 899 Yuan ($140). There’s also a Redmi Note 2 Prime Version which will retail for 999 Yuan ($155).
Xiaomi has once again outdid itself with the new Redmi Note 2. Its features powerful specs at an amazing price tag of just $125!!!
