Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 Listed On GFXBench with Adreno 510

by Joe 6

Late June, we spotted the Snapdragon 620 chipset on Geekbench. Despite being a mid-range chip, it managed to surprise everyone with its amazing performance, at least on paper. Now, the same Snapdragon 620 has just hit GFXBench, revealing more about its graphics performance.

Although the model name was unknown, the phone featured, S620, Adreno 510 GPU, 1080p resolution display, 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM, 13MP cmaera and an 8MP front facing shooter.

From the GFXBench listing, we can see that the new Adreno 510 chip is much better than the year old Adreno 405. In the ofscreen Manhattan test, it reached 13 fps while in the T-Rex test, it managed to reach about 31.2 fps, which is quite good for a mid-ranger. However, according to the leaked images, the GPU is still behind the Adreno 430 flagship.

Qualcomm has already revealed some details about the Snapdragon 620 chipset. The chip will come with quad Cortex A72 power cores and quad Cortex A53 cores, which will strike the perfect balance between performance and efficiency. It comes with X8 LTE modem, Hexagon V56 DSP and supports 4K recording as well.

Unlike the Snapdragon 615, which wasn’t much powerful, the Snapdragon 620 is expected to take things to a whole new level in the mid-range market.

Unfortunately, Qualcomm has not yet announced when the first Snapdragon 620 powered smartphones will hit the market. So, we will have to wait for some more time to see its real life performance.

    Problem with Qualcomm Phones :
    1. Over rated !
    2. SCANDALOUSLY overpriced … its like having a QC cpu means having a diamond embodiment !
    3. Performance to $ ratio is way WAY too low compared to MTK !

I couldn’t agree more with you. Oppo R series is a good example.

yeah … and apart from that , if they don’t add substance to their ‘stylized’ CPUs , they’ll run out of fan boys in no time and go bankrupt since no one would be willing to pay MORE for a CPU that performs horrendously WORSE than a cheaper Alternative !!!

I own 4 mtk phones. Only two got updated rest are still running the same old Android version. Sadly mediatek doesn’t release the source code and hence there aren’t enough Android custom roms available for mtk powered phones or tablets

Qualcomm problem is they sell way overprice.

MTK problem is they never release their source code to GPL so it is very hard to fix all the bugs left over by their stupid engineer.

And also fuckin’ MTK never upgrade their chip for newer Android. It means you buy MTK ,you stuck with its installed Android version, there is NO HOPE for any future android upgrade.

618 will be the better SoC.
