First of all, as you can see in the images, the XPlay 5 flagship looks similar to the Galaxy S6 Edge smartphone. The display is curved at the edges on both the sides. Along with this peculiar design, Vivo is said to use an integrated metal body accounting for 98% metal. There will also be a rose gold color option available for the device, in addition to the white and gold colors.

As for the specs, the posters confirm that the Vivo XPlay 5 will feature a 5.43-inch Super AMOLED display with 2K resolution. There will be two versions available, one powered by the Snapdragon 652 octa-core chip with 4GB of RAM and the higher-end model featuring the much more powerful Snapdragon 820 quad-core chipset with a whopping 6GB of RAM. There will be 128GB storage available on the device.

As for the camera, the Vivo XPlay 5 comes with a 16MP rear-facing shooter and an 8MP front facing camera. If you remember, these were the specs confirmed by GFXBench listing a couple of hours back. Further, the phone will come with a decent 3600mAh battery with fast charge support.

There will also be a fingerprint sensor located at the back of the device. Other features include a built-in Hi-Fi CS4398 + AS45257 chip for superior audio quality and dual card dual standby support. VIvo may also announce a couple of accessories for the device, like a Bluetooth speaker or headphones.

Thankfully, we don’t have to wait too long to get these specs confirmed. The phone is launching tomorrow, so make sure you tune to gizmochina for more updates of the XPlay 5 flagship.

This is terrible news. It’s smaller than the original 5.7 inch Xplay, which was bold to have such a large screen at the time. The 6 inch screen of the Xplay 3S was great, and any new Xplay model should be about the same size. It’s an Xplay! How is full-screen video meant to be watched on a screen that bends & distorts on the edges?! Not to mention reflections around the bend. This new model is disastrous and stupid, stupid stupid. It’s not an Xplay. It’s a valid model, but not suitable to be called an Xplay. And where are the stereo speakers? This is another Xplay feature that is missing. Sure, headphones are better, but the speakers are handy when needed. Can anyone else recommend a SnapDragon 820 six inch phone with great audio and camera? Because I won’t be buying this.
