Xiaomi to launch a new Redmi phone on Aug 25, Redmi Note 4?

by Jed John 7

Xiaomi has officially announced a news conference scheduled for August 25 where the company is expected to launch a new smartphone. The expected Xiaomi smartphone is speculated to be a smartphone in the Redmi series with the Redmi Note 4 or Redmi 4 touted.

From the teaser, it is likely that the device will feature an all-metal body design and from the image render, it will probably have a 5.5-inch display size which makes the Redmi Note 4 very likely.

Apart from that, the poster also contains the logo of China Mobile which is an indication that the expected smartphone is likely a carrier based smartphone just like the China Unicom based Redmi 3X.

On the specs bench, the Xiaomi redmi Note 4 is expected with a 5.5-inch display screen with 1080p resolution and will be powered by a 2GHz processor touted to be a MediaTek Helio X20 chipset.  The processor will combine with a 3GB RAM to give the device a seamless performance. On the camera aspect, the Redmi Note 4 should pack a 13MP rear camera sensor and up front, there is an 8MP selfie camera. The devcie is said to have a 4,000mAh battery under its hood and will likely carry a 899 yuan ($136) price tag when launched.

August 25 is just tomorrow, so we’ll get all the juicy details across to you on Gizmochina as they pop.

At the moment these specs don’t sound like much of an upgrade over the note 3 pro. Perhaps the camera is improved?

If the Redmi 4 has no SD625, then I will get the special edition of the Note 3 Pro which will be even cheaper after the announcement of the new Redmi series.

Note 3 pro prices have dropped a lot over the last 2 months. Agree they will drop further once the redmi 4/note 4 are released. Great buying opportunity

Now Redmi note 3 pro 3GB/32GB already selling at super low price. Last price i know already reached around $165 (silver / gold color only) for oversea buyer including free shipping via registered air mail. Not bad as i got it reached to my door around 3 weeks.

If Xiaomi never release Redmi note 4 with snapdragon then i just recommend to buy Redmi note 3 pro.

Does anyone see the improvement in the Redmi Note 4 from the 3 series?

    • Wolvie

I saw Redmi note 4 (Mediatek X20) is actually a downgrade from Redmi Note 3 pro (Qualcomm Snapdragon). I could be wrong btw as this model haven’t release yet.

Again my opinion is not objective as i am biased toward qualcomm side already LOL.
