OPPO has sent out invitations for the official launch of the OPPO R9s. The invitation lists the date as the 19th of October for the release of the R9 successor.

Like its sibling, the R9s will focus on camera performance and the invitation reveals that the phone will be the first in the world to sport Sony’s new IMX398 sensor. OPPO is still keeping the details of the camera under wraps but a source says it is a 16MP dual-pixel camera combo on the front and rear with a f/1.7 aperture.

Although the invitation is for the R9s, we don’t know if the R9s Plus which was featured in a TV ad recently will launch on that day or later. A still from the ad shows the R9s Plus with a bigger body (or screen) which is all we know about the phone right now.

OPPO R9s and R9s Plus

It’s hard to tell if OPPO will change the internals of the R9s Plus like they did with the R9 Plus or if they’ll just leave the difference at screen size.
