The Honor V30 smartphone that was launched a few days back happens to be Honor’s first 5G model and it comes right after the Huawei Mate X 5G foldable model was launched, joining the Mate 20X as the only Huawei-branded 5G phones. The Honor V30 series became the only 5G dual-mode phone in the 3,000 yuan price range.Honor logo

After the launch conference, Honor’s President George Zhao spoke extensively to the press to propagate the company’s vision, especially as regards 5G. While speaking about next year’s 5G mobile phone plans, he disclosed that the Play series, the V series, Digital series, and X series will all have 5G connectivity.

Zhao noted that the range of 3000 yuan to 4500 yuan is already covered by the V series. In the future, 5G will spread to the 2000 yuan, 1500 yuan and even 1000 yuan price segment. The Honor president didn’t specify any timeline, thus, this isn’t likely going to unravel fully next year. He noted that the emergence of 5G may be to the detriment of consumers as the low-end price regime has to change due to needed improvements in chips, battery and other hardware to meet up the 5G requirements.
