Today, ZTE officially announced the ZTE Axon and the ZTE Axon Lux at the company’s Beijing event. The Axon phone was already announced a few days back in US, so we knew most of the specifications of the device. However, there is one major difference between the international model and the Chinese version. The latter comes with a three different biometric sensors namely fingerprint, voice control and eye-scan. Other specs are more or less the same.

The ZTE Axon Lux is the higher-end version, and features a WQHD 5.5-inch display with pixel density of over 534 ppi. There will be 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM on board along with 128GB of internal storage which is further expandable. As for the standard Axon model, it comes with a 1080p 5.5-inch display (400ppi) and 3GB  + 32GB internal storage (expandable) option.

Other specs are same, which include Snapdragon 810 octa-core chip, Hi-Fi AK4961 chip, dual cameras (13MP+2MP) with dual LED flash and a 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge.  There are a lot of security features as well on both the devices like Fingerprint Scanner, Visit Mode, TrustZone, Eyeprint ID, and Voice Unlocking. This also makes it the first phone to support three different biometric authentication options.

a sick phone! Hope to review it soon! 🙂

    • Muhammad Yasir

hey , where is Axon actually based in ? US or china ??

      • Joe

Its designed with US market in mind. But since ZTE is a Chinese company, we might as well call it a Chinese phone…

        • Muhammad Yasir

well , glad to see this come into being.
i’d really like to try out a phone , streamlined for US markets

      • Linus

Actually Axon is kind of a sub-brand of ZTE for the U.S. market. They established the whole department in the U.S. for this brand. It is said that the Axon phone is “almost entirely” designed in the U.S. This applies at least to the U.S. version. Anyway, it is a really good looking phone.

        • Muhammad Yasir

          agreed 🙂

Looks amazing. I dont see a real reason to get the lux though. 3GB is more than enough and I use the LG G2 and the G4 and honestly , i can barely see the difference between 424 and 540 ppi. Battery will probably last longer too due to reduced resolution.

    • Joe

You are right, in terms of real life usage, the 3GB Axon is more than sufficient. But the market has a niche crowd who are obsessed with specs and power and it becomes necessary for a brand like ZTE to cater to their needs too, which is probably why we have an Axon Lux version too.
2K display will definitely lower the battery life on the Lux version, so if you are happy with 3GB + 32GB + 1080p display, Axon is going to be a good choice.

    • Linus

We can’t see much of a difference at anything what is over 300PPI. I just recently compared Letv Le 1 Pro to the iPhone 6. The latter has a display, which is more pleasing to the eye. Unless you are starring at your phone’s screen through the microscope on a daily basis

Hope it doesn’t get hot enough to toast bagels.

And a Compact version would be nice after the 820 comes out.

But I really like the idea of true competition at the Top besides Samsung and Iphone and hope SONY re emerges with stronger Devices…
Can’t Qualcomm jump up or re engineer the 810 ?

  • amirexpressir

can’t wait for any comparison with S6 or G4 and Gionee e8/ ZTE nubia z9 in screen & camera department specially(i believe they have fixed the sd810 heat on this too, right?!)
anyway,,,great phone from zte(alongside nubia sub brand by presenting axon)
