UPDATE : LeEco Le 2 x620 / x620 Pro / x625 Pro baseband – imei repair

Here we are again, for another unbrick/rescue mission.

This time we will unbrick our LeEco Le 2 x620 / x620 Pro / x625 Pro series from so-called “Red light” brick. If you flash a wrong ROM using TWRP, your phone will have no sign of life, only a blinking red light when you plug USB cable and some Mediatek ports under your device manager (if you have drivers installed).

It was much easier for old MediaTek series like x600 or x500 from LeEco to flash an SP Flash tool ROM, but after Helio X20, things changed — there is secure boot protection and we can’t just flash like a regular MediaTek SP tool ROM. We need different “download agents” and a certain authentication file to bypass this protection. This guide works for both unlocked and YES for locked bootloaders. And there is a Youtube video that you can watch if reading can be confused sometimes, this is a tricky guide, but the only complete guide that will answer all your questions.

And there is a Youtube video that you can watch if reading can be confusing sometimes, as this is a tricky guide, but the only complete guide that will answer all your questions. There are less pictures in this guide, but the video shows every step, guide is written in the same timeline as the Youtube video.

Downloads: Flash tool , Rescue Rom

Let’s start.

Double click “flash_tool.exe” inside the x620_flash_tool folder. Choose “MT6797_Android_scatter.txt” in the ROM folder LeEco_x620_SP_Rom if you see an error, if you don’t, do it as the first step by clicking “Scatter-loading” tab right of the window. Next, click “Download Agent” above and choose “DA_PL_HIGH.bin” from “secureboot” folder in the flash tool program folder. Press CTRL + Alt + S to open “Authentication File” section in flash tool and browse to secureboot folder again and select “auth_sv5_letv.auth” file. Untick “recovery” and “boot” images from the list and make sure you have “Download only” selected. If you try to flash recovery and boot partitions too you will see an error like this:

error

Make sure your phone is completely off. Press “Download” (green arrow looking down), then just plug the USB cable without pressing any other button on the phone.

preloader

A new device will be found under device manager, use this driver to setup manually MediaTek Preloader VCOM USB port by selecting the inf file inside the driver folder.

1_high_bin

Flashing will start like in the picture, if not, ignore any error, unplug the USB cable, press download again (green arrow looking down) and plug back USB cable in.

Wait until flashing is done, you will see a green “OK” sign showing its done.

Now, unplug the phone from PC. Next, we will flash recovery and boot partitions individually. We need to change download agent from DA_PL_HIGH.bin to DA_BR.bin as the first step here. Again, they are in the “secureboot” folder inside the SP flash tool program folder. Press “CTRL + Alt + V” to open “Write Memory” tab under “Window” menu above.

After you select “Write Memory” a new tab will come up looking like this:

write-memory

We will flash boot image first, (the pictures are for recovery image flashing, don’t get confused, both will be flashed same way, only files and hex values be different) from “File Path” browse to the ROM folder and select “boot-verified.img” file.

Change the value in the “Begin Adress (HEX)” to “0xf900000” (copy paste from here), leave “Region” as “EMMC_USER”. Click “Write Memory” above (phone is unplugged and off).

Now this step is important: Press Volume + button on your Le 2 and plug in the USB cable, keep pressing Volume + button until flashing is done.

Keeping Volume + button constantly will open our desired MediaTek Preloader VCOM USB port, if you don’t, MediaTek USB port will open and flashing will give an error, if you keep pressing Volume + this will trigger Preloader port to open.

Look at the pictures to see port name.

write-memory_ok

From “File Path” browse to the ROM folder and select “recovery_stock_works _after_brick.img” file. Change the value in the “Begin Adress (HEX)” to “0x8000” this time (copy paste from here), leave “Region” as “EMMC_USER“. Rest will be the same as is described above.

Press Volume + button on your Le 2 and plug in the USB cable while phone is off, keep pressing Volume + button until flashing is done.

That’s it, now it’s time to power on our bricked Le 2 phone. Next guide will be Baseband and imei fix if you had lost them during brick.

Stop the download, keep phone plugged into usb, then hold the power button until it is recognized. Then press download. You do not need to unplug the usb before clicking download. Best of luck.

Is this regardless even if MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM Port has a yellow exclamation point on it?

    • androidbrick

Your drivers seem not properly configured, try to disable Windows driver signature, those yellow marks should not be there.

    • Jermaine D. Delos Santos

I’m also getting this error when the Windows driver signature is disabled. Any solutions?

  • Abdul M. Diaz

Thank you for your service! I will certainly subscribe. Keep it up!

  • ryan coleman

Thank you for the video, it’s somewhat worked. However, wehnever i boot my phone up, it tells me “red state your device has failed verification and may not work properly” and goes into a boot loop with that message, what do i do?

  • Javi

First of all, thank you! But I have the imei issue, and I can´t hear the video you posted about the imei repairing. Is there any written guide about it? And second, an strange thing happened, because the storage capacity is gone down. It is a 16GB phone, but in storage it now says it has only 9GB!

  • Tamas Kr Fodor

Hi, can you help me please? So I done what you had here, but since I couldn`t get sound working at all, I have formatted the phone (everything) I can flash the recovery and the boot but not the rest like the pre-loader. Can you advise me hoe to install the pre-loader bin file so I can flash the phone! I try some drivers maybe works somehow. The phone is complete dead mode I can`t access to recovery or fastboot.

    • Tamas Kr Fodor

I revive it managed to flash the bootloader and it is working but still have no sound for anything or imei.

      • Did you revive your device by following the method in this page?

        • Tamas Kr Fodor

Yes, I did. Actually now I have a much better rom which does everything through FastBoot option.

          • Lucky you. I’m still struggling on the “write memory” parts of the overall method. I tried three different computers and 2 (Windows 7 Ultimate x64) of them showed similar problems: while the system could detect the device and fetch the driver update online, the update would never install. I have seen this multiple times by installing and uninstalling the driver and then re-plugging the device.

The Windows 10 one would not outright see the device as having the right hardware configuration and whose getting a driver update about manually online is taking ages to do.

By the way, which custom ROM did you flashed your device with?

          • Tamas Kr Fodor

You should try the Fastboot option. That’ll delete everything in your phone and rewrite everything else. I’ll try to find it or upload it for you to somewhere later on today or tomorrow.

          • Jermaine D. Delos Santos

It’s hard bricked. Meaning, it would not boot normally, in fastboot mode, or in TWRP.

I think the problem I am having right now is the driver. I got yellow exclamation marks on it.

          • Suhaime Raeze

            how do you resolve this?

          • I got mine fixed some days ago by following the steps mentioned here. The difficulty I encountered boils down from the driver. When everything was settled, the steps mentioned here worked.

          • Suhaime Raeze

“The difficulty I encountered boils down from the driver” i have this issue.. u have steps to resolve this.

          • Are you using Windows 10? I got mine working better with it than any other OS e.g. older version of Windows.

  • Tamas Kr Fodor

I have no sound what so ever !!! Any clue why ? Also how can install a custom recovery on it now I have this custom rom, please?

  • Harsh kumar Shrivastava

When using download mode, just after the red meter goes to 100% i keep getting this error, BROM ERROR : STATUS_BROM_CMD_DA_FAIL (0xC0060003)
I was able to flash recovery and boot with the “write memory” but phone still doesnt turn on at all. IS There any way i can use the “write memory” to flash the rest?? In a forum a guy said the error is due to a bad preloader, maybe if i fix the preloader using the write memory i could dowload the rest of the rom?
PLEASE HELP IM STILL NEW TO THIS

Thanks for the guide it´s working for my x625pro, but in my case I need to press volume+ also in the first part when I flashing the rom. Maybe this will help for someone who get this error message “status brom cmd send da fail 6003” or something like this.

  • This method also works with LeEco Le S3 X626 as well, right?

  • Hanna

    Hi
I click Download and nothing doooooo, please what now

  • Jermaine D. Delos Santos

So, I managed to follow everything in this guide. But, how come, even after the process, my device still would not boot? Will be able to re-do everything again from the start without problems?

  • Kindly ignore my previous posts. I got everything sorted out now thanks to this guide.

  • Hancoz

Sorry I’m kinda out of topic. After having installed a couple of custom ROM (LeEco x620 AOSP Rom v229a by Kangburra and lineage-14.1-20170926-UNOFFICIAL-le_x620) I’d like to go back to the original official ROM for my Le S3 x626. But I don’t know how to do that, given that all the official ROMs seem to be updates only. Do I have to follow all the steps of this blog, or is there an easier solution? Thanks.

  • Suhaime Raeze

HI .. will this work with Le S3 (x626)
