Huawei’s Honor has begun rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo to two of its devices – the Honor 8 Pro (Honor V9) and the Honor 9. The update comes bundled with Huawei’s EMUI 8.0 update but there is a catch.
If you are not a resident of the UK, you likely won’t get the update. However, one user from India has reported updating his Honor 8 Pro. Honor has not revealed when other regions will get the update but they most definitely will receive it soon.
The update started rolling out to the Honor 8 Pro first while the Honor 9 is scheduled to get it later. It brings all the goodness of Android 8.0 such as picture-in-picture mode, auto-fill, notification dots, and new emojis.
You also get EMUI 8.0 features like AI Intelligent Engine which allocates resources to your most used apps and handles low memory management for a smooth experience; dynamic wallpaper; and LinkedIn built-in. The update is about 2.8GB in size.
Honor GER says EMUI8 (incl. Oreo) coming to Honor 8 Pro and Honor 9 from February. Coming to Honor 7X in Q2. EMUI8 feature update coming to Honor 8 soon, but no upgrade to Android 8.0 "Oreo" yet – "will have 'a surprise' in this regard in the near future" though.
