Nearly two months after it unveiled the MediaPad M5 tablets at MWC 2018, Huawei has launched them in its home country. However, they do not bear the MediaPad name and are simply referred to as the Huawei M5 tablets.

Huawei M5

The Huawei M5 comes in three variants with multiple configurations – the M5 which comes in 8.4-inch and 10.8-inch models and the M5 Pro which is available in 10.8-inches.

All models come with a 2K display, a Kirin 960s (an upgraded Kirin 960 with a dedicated NPU like the Kirin 970) processor, and 4GB of RAM. Each also has a 13MP rear sensor and an 8MP front-facing camera; runs EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo, and supports fast charging. There is also Face Unlock, a fingerprint scanner, and Hi-Res audio with Harman Kardon tuning.

Where they differ is in the number of speakers – two on the 8.4” model and four on the 10.8” models; the battery – 5100mAh against 7,500mAh; and support for stylus and keyboard attachment on the M5 Pro.
