In the previous week, it was revealed that Xiaomi is prepping up to launch a new low-end smartphone for China and India. The device is expected to hit the market with Redmi S2 moniker. It has already received approved by TENAA authority and now it has also been certified by 3C body in the home country.

Recent reports reveal that the upcoming Redmi S2 has a model number of M1803E6E. The same model number along with other variants such as M1803E6T and M1803E6C have received certification 3C authority in China. The 3C approval did not reveal any information on the specs of the phone, but it has confirmed that it will carry support for 5V/2A charging.

The TENAA images of the Redmi S2 has revealed that since it sports a full screen design and vertical dual camera setup, its design is similar to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The device measures 160.73 x 77.26 x 8.1mm and it weighs 170 grams.

The 18:9 aspect ratio display of the Redmi S2 measures 5.99 inches and it produces HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. It is speculated to be fueled by Snapdragon 625 SoC. The handset is expected to be available in multiple RAM and storage editions.

The 16 GB storage variant has 2 GB of RAM and its 32 GB storage model includes 3 GB of RAM. The highest configuration model has 64 GB storage and 4 GB of RAM. It also features a microSD card slot. It is loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo.

TENAA listing has revealed that its dual camera setup includes a 12-megapixel sensor and an 8-megapixel sensor. It has a selfie camera of 16-megapixel. The S2 will receive power from 3,000mAh battery. Leaked firmware files of the S2 has revealed that it will be supporting features like face unlock, Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and Portrait Mode. According to TENAA listing, the Redmi S2 will be available in multiple colors like Black, Blue, Gold, Gray, Pink, Red, Rose Gold, Silver and White. However, the Chinese manufacturer may only make few of the color variants available at launch.

There is no information on the launch date of the Xiaomi Redmi S2. Now that that the smartphone has bagged TENAA and 3C certifications in China, it is likely that it may get announced as early as next month.
