As promised, Xiaomi has started rolling out Android 8.0 OTA update on Mi 5S Plus in China. Users are reporting about the latest Mi 5s Plus OTA update on Mi community forums. It was launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow onboard in September 2016. The update brings in many new features and changes which will increase the overall usability of the device.

In details, Mi 5s Plus new update is focused on better battery life, increased speed and security. It brings improved Doze mode which helps you to save some battery life by bringing the idle apps to sleep. Doze mode restricts the app’s background operations so that it won’t turn on unnecessary processes. There’s another highlighted feature in the changelog, i.e., the SOS emergency function allowing you to access help from nearby emergency entities when in need.

After a long wait, Xiomi Mi 5s Plus users have started receiving the update. It is rolling out in a phased manner, will reach on your device in upcoming few hours to days. Also, you can also manually check the update by heading to the Settings >> About Phone >> System updates on your phone. We suggest you turn on your WiFi network and keep your device 50% charged to update your device smoothly.

Additionally, it carries 5.7 inch full HD display with 2.5D curved glass having 13 MP dual camera on board. It is powered by Snapdragon 821 and Adreno 530 GPU coupled with 6GB of RAM. It brings full-featured NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac dual-band Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and 4G dual SIM support. There’s a 4megapixel camera having a 2μm large pixel with f/2.0 aperture.

There’s a fingerprint sensor on the back with 3800 mAh battery supporting Quick Charge 3.0.
