Nokia’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas had disclosed a couple of months back that the Nokia 8 flagship will get Android 9.0 Pie update soon. It is been three months since that disclosure was made but nothing official has been released. However, there are signs that Android 9.0 will soon start rolling out on the flagship as a Nokia 8 model running Google’s latest Android version has appeared on GeekBench.
The GeekBench listing clearly shows this is the 4GB RAM version of the Nokia 8 and popping up on the database is an indication that the company is already testing the handset with the new software version. If we are to go by the case of the Nokia 7.1 which received the new OS update about a month after appearing on GeekBench, the OTA update for the Nokia 8 may just be around the corner.
According to Juho Sarvikas, Android 9.0 Pie will bring Face Unlock feature, ARCore support and another camera update to the Nokia 8. Other steller features which Android 9.0 brings to the table will also be available to Nokia 8 users. The Android Pie update is also being worked on for other of the company’s products.
