Fresh information shared by a tipster from China reveals that Xiaomi will be introducing Xiaomi Play, a new series of smartphone. He has added that the company may hold a launch event for it between Dec. 17 and Dec. 26. Probably, it could be unveiled on Dec. 24. It is being speculated that the Xiaomi Play could actually be the rebranded version of the Xiaomi Poco F1 for China.

The Xiaomi Play moniker suggests that it could be a gaming-friendly flagship smartphone with good battery life. In June, Honor had launched the gaming-focused Honor Play smartphone with flagship specifications. The smartphone had arrived with budget-friendly price tag of 1,999 Yuan (~$289). Hence, the Xiaomi Play could be the Snapdragon 845 powered gaming-centric budget phone. As mentioned above, it could be rebranded Poco F1 for the home market.

Xiaomi had launched the Poco F1 smartphone in India on August. In some markets outside of India, the same phone is available with Pocophone F1 moniker. The smartphone has been met with positive response from audience and critics. In the previous week, the Chinese manufacturer had confirmed that it had sold the 700,000 unit of Poco F1 in the past 3 months.

The Xiaomi Poco F1 is fitted with a 6.18-inch IPS LCD notched screen that produces full HD+ resolution.  A 4,000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 4 fuels the smartphone. For photography, it features a front-facing camera of 20-megapixel and 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup on the rear. It also features IR face scanner apart from fingerprint sensor. The MIUI 10 update has been rolled out for the smartphone. It will be soon treated with Android 9 Pie OS update.

The Xiaomi Poco F1 is now selling with reduced pricing in India. The 64 GB storage + 6 GB RAM, 128 GB storage + 6 GB RAM, 256 GB storage + 8 GB RAM models of the Poco F1 are now respectively available for Rs. 19,999 (~$279), Rs. 22,999 (~$320) and Rs. 27,999 (~$389).  These models are were respectively available with Rs. 20,999 (~$292), Rs. 23,999 (~$335) and Rs. 28,999 (~$404) pricings at the launch.

The Armoured Edition of the phone that features Kevrlar body, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage was introduced for Rs. 29,999 (~$417). It is now available for Rs. 28,999 (~$404).
