Xiaomi has been quite visible in the race towards the release of 5G technology in 2019. The company has on several occasions showed us demos of the Mi Mix 3 5G version while performing functions using the 5G connectivity. At first, the Mi Mix 3 5G version was shown having 5G connectivity. Later on, we saw the device being used for video call. Now, Xiaomi’s global spokesperson Donovan Sung has shared a short video clip demonstrating how the 5G technology fares when deployed for IoT.
Internet of Things (IoT) is one aspect where 5G would play a big role as a result of the fast connectivity it offers. The video demonstrates how users will be able to use this feature right in the home to control the IoT gadgets. In this case, the MIJIA smart lamp is controlled using the phone and the response was in real time – swift!

Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G edition is powered by Snapdragon 855 chipset equipped with X50 LTE modem bringing 5G capabilities to the phone. Combined with Xiaomi’s smart antenna switching technology, the Mi MIX 3 5G version can achieve up to 2 Gbps of download speeds. The smartphone reportedly features aviation polymer cooling technology for creating high-efficiency heat conduction system for enhancing the user experience. The smartphone is expected to go official in Q1 2019 and the first market to receive it could be Europe.
