Huawei offers EMUI 9 Open Beta for nine Huawei and Honor smartphones

Huawei’s own custom user interface, EMUI 9, which is based on Android Pie operating system has already been rolled out to major Huawei and Honor smartphones in China. Recently, the company announced the global release of EMUI 9.

Now, the company has announced that the EMUI 9 open beta update will be available for nine more smartphones models, which include Huawei Mate 9, Mate 9 Porsche Edition, Mate 9 Pro, P10, P10 Plus, Honor V9, Honor 9, Nova 2S, and Honor Note 10.

As per the reports, after update to this open beta update of EMUI 9, some of the third-party applications are not working properly and you’ll have to rely on apps in Huawei App Market. Since this is a beta build, the problem will be fixed by the time company starts rolling out the stable update.

To install the EMUI 9 beta update, the phone should not be rooted and there should be at least 6GB of free internal storage otherwise the update installation will not be successful. As for the timeline, the Mate 9 Pro is expected to get the update from today while the Honor Note will get in early January 2019.

The latest EMUI update brings various new changes along with all the features of Android 9 Pie. The customized skin comes with plenty of bug fixes and enhancements over the EMUI 8.0. The new user interface is better optimized for full view displays and carries additional AI-based features.

It also brings the Computer Mode Version 2.0, wireless universal screen projection through Miracast, one-click screen capture, and HuaweiShare for faster file transfers, among others. There is also a new password manager capable of auto-filling passwords using ID verification from the fingerprint scanner or via facial recognition.

The settings menu has been trimmed down by 10 percent. It also comes with GPU Turbo 2.0 which reduces the touch response of the phone by 36 percent and adds a new app assistant. This new GPU Turbo 2.0 introduces support for more games.

Since the update is based on Android Pie, it also gets navigation gestures. Among other features, the Android Pie also comes with Adaptive Battery which makes use of machine learning technology to improve the phone’s power management.
