Google is rolling out the second Android Q Beta with support for new features such as multitasking bubbles, reworked gestures, and a whole new foldable emulator. Google keeps evolving the new Android Q beta builds with new features and enhancements. The beta builds help developers to make their apps and games compatible with the newer Android versions.

This time the Android Beta 2 comes along with an updated SDK for developers, a foldable emulator to test apps and games for resizable display, and whole new gesture control to improve the app accessibility. A new Scoped Storage on the new beta allows users to get more control over shared files. It will let apps to access private sandbox with new access requests for photos, videos and audio.

Bubbles to improve multitasking

The new Bubbles features will help “interactions consistent, safeguard user privacy, reduce development time, and drive innovation.” Facebook Messenger like Bubble notifications help prioritise information, allows instant action and that too without hindering your work. It will help facilitate notifications recording calls, messages and making notes without losing on primary activities.

Emulator for Foldable devices

On Android Studio 3.5 canary release, developers can enjoy the new foldable device emulator with Android Q enhanced platform support. The foldable emulator can be configured easily by heading to the Android virtual device manager in Android Studio. It is compatible with all CTS/GTS requirements and models CDD compliance.

Audio Zoom

A new audio capture API is also a part of the latest Android Q Beta 2. It allows devices to listen more carefully and to zoom in a specified direction through MicrophoneDirection API. Developers can set a field dimension to record the voice in a more precise and efficient manner using setMicrophoneFieldDimension(float).

Unlike Android P beta, the new Android beta is bearing advancements in a timely manner. We expect a speedier rollout of the upcoming Android Q Beta builds including optimisations, fixes and new features.
