After Redmi split from its parent company Xiaomi to work independently, the brand has launched five smartphones — Redmi Note 7, Redmi Go, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi 7, and Redmi Y3.

The company’s flagship smartphone powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC has been in the work, as the brand’s president has already confirmed. After several leaks and rumors, it seems that the phone is finally set to make its debut.

According to Weibo account of Tang Mu, General Manager of Xiaomi Smart Hardware Division, the company could launch the Redmi flagship smartphone powered by SD855 SoC at a launch event on 13th May in China.

Further, he notes that the company is also going to launch “one more thing” but what would that be is unknown at this time. Given that he handles smart devices division, it’s likely that the device could be an IoT-powered smart home device.

Yesterday, a protective cover of the Redmi K20 Pro smartphone leaked online, which allegedly is the upcoming Redmi flagship smartphone. It shows that the phone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC and will have a 48 MP primary camera sensor on the back side.

The phone will come with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display and is likely to have an in-display fingerprint sensor like most other flagship smartphones. The device will be powered by a 4000 mAh battery with support for 27W fast charging. Previous reports have indicated that the phone will retain the 3.5mm headphone jack and a will have NFC support.

The company has also teased a smartphone powered by Snapdragon 730 chipset. This could be the device featuring a pop-up selfie camera as teased in a video shared by the company. There’s a possibility that the brand could launch this phone instead of its flagship smartphone.
