The OnePlus 7 Pro was unveiled today at an event that simultaneously held in New York, London, and Bengalore. The OnePlus 7 Pro is their best phone yet and might as well be one of the best phones released this year. It is deserving of that title in more ways than one. From a spectacular display to super impressive cameras and a price that puts it ahead of the competition.

Design

The OnePlus 7 is covered in glass on both sides. The edge-to-edge display is curved to meet the metal frame and the finish on the back changes depending on the angle light hits it. The phone measures 162.6 × 75.9 × 8.8mm and weighs 206g.

Specs

The OnePlus 7 Pro has a 6.67-inch QHD+ Fluid AMOLED curved display with a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. OnePlus has worked hard on this display and believes you will be blown away by it. Under the display is a third generation in-display fingerprint scanner that is faster and unlocks in 0.21 seconds. There is also Face Unlock

The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 phone with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. The OnePlus 7 Pro is also the first commercially available phone with UFS 3.0 storage which is 79% faster than UFS 2.1. With UFS 3.0, read, write and install speeds are way faster.

OnePlus 7 Pro key specs

The Oneplus 7 Pro doesn’t have a notification LED but it has a pretty neat trick called Horizon Light which uses the edges of the display to notify you when there is an alert.

This is the first OnePlus phone with triple rear cameras and those cameras are not for show. The 48MP triple camera setup propels the OnePlus 7 Pro to the No. 3 spot on DxOMark’s mobile phone ranking with an overall score of 111. Only the Huawei P30 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S10 5G which both have a score of 112 are ahead of it. The 48MP f/1.6 Sony IMX586 camera has OIS and EIS and is paired with an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x zoom and its own OIS and a 16MP 117° ultra-wide angle camera.

The camera app comes with features such as UltraShot which allows the camera to capture up to 4x more light, Super Resolution, Studio Lighting, and Nightscape mode. The phone can record 4K videos at 60fps and slow-motion videos in 1080p at 240fps and 720p at 480fps.

The phone comes with a 16MP pop-up selfie camera. OnePlus says the camera has been tested 300,000 times for durability. The phone also has a feature where the camera automatically retracts when the accelerometer senses the phone is going to fall. DxOMark has given the OnePlus 7 Pro’s selfie camera a score of 86.

OnePlus 7 Pro stereo speakers

The OnePlus 7 Pro is also the first OnePlus phone with stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos audio. It packs a 4000mAh battery with support for Warp Charge 30 which lets you charge your phone from empty to 50% in just 20 minutes via a USB 3.1 GEN1 port. There is also liquid cooling to keep your device’s temperature low when performing intensive tasks such as gaming. There is also a new haptic vibration motor in the OnePlus 7 Pro.

On the software side, the OnePlus 7 pro runs OxygenOS 9.5 based on Android Pie. It brings a new feature called Zen Mode to allow you to take a break from your phone. In this mode, you only have access to the phone and camera app for 20 minutes. OnePlus also says there is a new Fnatic Mode for a world-class gaming experience. At the beginning of the year, OnePlus announced its partnership with e-sports team Fnatic. The Fnatic Mode is one of the results of their partnership.
