Google recently revoked Huawei’s license to use Android operating system after the US Department of Commerce listed Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd under its Entity list which includes companies that pose a threat to its national security. It eventually led to the suspension of some arrangements between Google and Huawei, including the use of proprietary apps and services by the search giant. Responding to dramatic developments, Huawei said that they will provide security upgrades on all existing devices – Huawei and Honor smartphones and tablets.

Huawei owners can enjoy all the after-sales services from the company without any hassle. The Chinese manufacturer even talked about its efforts to make Android better for both users and the industry.

“Huawei has made substantial contributions to the development and growth of Android around the world. As one of Android’s key global partners, we have worked closely with their open-source platform to develop an ecosystem that has benefitted both users and the industry.

Huawei will continue to provide security updates and after-sales services to all existing Huawei and Honor smartphone and tablet products, covering those that have been sold and that are still in stock globally.

We will continue to build a safe and sustainable software ecosystem, in order to provide the best experience for all users globally.”

Google has clarified that the Play Store services on Huawei devices wouldn’t be affected, and users can keep updating their apps.

However, the US companies now need to seek permission from the government before doing any business with Huawei. To abide by the latest listing, many other companies such as Intel and Qualcomm have cut ties with Huawei.
