After months of waiting, OnePlus is finally rolling out a stable Android Pie update to the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T!!! The update brings new features and updates the security patch.

The update is rolling out incrementally as OxygenOS 9.0.2 to both phones. OnePlus says a limited number of users will receive it today while a broader rollout will begin in a few days to a few weeks time. They also said VPNs won’t help you get the update faster as the OTA is not rolling out on a region bases but to limited random devices.

The update brings a brand new user interface, April’s security patch, and bug fixes. Below is the complete changelog:

Do Not Disturb mode

  • You can now customize the time range in the new Do Not Disturb mode

  • Supports Google Lens to provide you with powerful image recognition experience

The Android Pie update will be the last major update for the 2016 phones. Both phones originally launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, got updated to Android Nougat, then Android Oreo, and finally, Android Pie, making it three major OS updates.

We can’t think of any Android phone that has received three major OS updates since it launched. However, the title will be short lived when Android Q arrives as phones such as the Essential PH-1 will get its third major OS update then. Nevertheless, OnePlus deserves praise. They made a promise and they fulfilled it.
