During the last year, a lot of Chinese companies tried to offer something more than affordable flagships. Oppo is finally back in the flagship segment after four years of inactivity with the Find X and, in 2019, with the new Oppo Reno 10x Zoom. Meanwhile, OnePlus changed its strategy and, for the first time, it launched a top-tier flagship: the OnePlus 7 Pro. Even Huawei’s sub-brand, Honor, came up with an advanced version of the Honor 20 which comes with higher-end specs: the Honor 20 Pro. These three devices represent three of the most important Chinese flagships of 2019 and, through this comparison, we will clear your idea about their specifications and potentialities.

Design

All of these devices sport a beautiful and futuristic design: which one you should go for mainly depends on your tastes. In order to get free from display bezels, Honor 20 Pro boasts a punch-hole display with a front camera inside. On the other hand, Oppo Reno 10x zoom and OnePlus 7 Pro come with pop-up front cameras which differ in their form factors: the former has a singular shark fin-like motorized slider, while the OnePlus 7 Pro has a classic pop-up camera just like the Vivo NEX line-up. In each case, you get a wonderful glass back and a high screen-to-body ratio. Some may prefer the Honor 20 Pro because it is way more compact than its opponents, but it has also a smaller display.

Display

When it comes to displays, Honor 20 Pro loses the battle immediately. Besides having a way smaller screen as mentioned above, it has an average IPS panel just like the ones you can find on most of the devices from €200 to €400. The second place goes to the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom which comes with a better AMOLED display showing deeper blacks and more attractive colors; it also integrates an in-display fingerprint reader. But the real winner here is the OnePlus 7 Pro which comes with the most impressive display ever seen on a Chinese phone. It has a high Quad HD+ resolution, a wonderful color reproduction thanks to the HDR10+ standard, and even a high 90 Hz refresh ratio.

Hardware/Software

In its most expensive variant, OnePlus 7 Pro wins even the hardware comparison. It is the only one to come with up to 12 GB of RAM that is the biggest amount of volatile memory ever mounted on a smartphone. Further, it is powered by the best Qualcomm’s chipset: the octa-core Snapdragon 855 running at a max frequency of 2.84 GHz. Right after, there is the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom which is powered by the Snapdragon 855 as well, but it has just 8 GB of RAM in its high-end version. OnePlus 7 Pro has a nearly-stock Android version, while Oppo Reno 10x zoom and Honor 20 Pro have customized user interfaces.

Camera

These handsets are very close when it comes to camera performances, so it is very hard to establish a clear winner because their photo quality varies a lot depending on the scenario. But I personally prefer the Honor 20 Pro due to its more versatile camera department. It has a quad camera composed of a main 48 MP sensor with the brightest focal aperture in the smartphone market: f/1.4. Its secondary sensor is an ultrawide lens which you can currently find on most of the flagship, but there is also a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and a dedicated macro camera! A complete camera setup which guarantees amazing shots in every condition. But if we only talk about photo quality, OnePlus 7 Pro is more or less at the same level. And let’s not forget about the Oppo Reno 10x zoom with its amazing 10x hybrid zoom technology (5x optical zoom).

Battery

Finally, the age in which flagships had small, insufficient or average battery is gone. All these handsets come with a very nice 4000 mAh battery which holds for a full day if you do not stress them too much. The battery of the Oppo Reno 10x zoom is slightly bigger (4065 mAh), the phone has to manage a more efficient AMOLED display, so it could be that it will last more than both OnePlus 7 Pro and Honor 20 Pro on a single charge. On the other hand, OnePlus 7 Pro has a much faster charging technology.

Price

Honor 20 Pro starts from €600/$670, OnePlus 7 Pro has a €700/$780 price for the entry-level variant and Oppo Reno 10x zoom starts from €800/$890. With its amazing display, great hardware side and awesome cameras, OnePlus 7 Pro looks more promising and it wins this comparison.
