Vivo has so far launched two smartphones under its experimental NEX lineup — Vivo NEX and Vivo NEX Dual Screen Edition. Now, the company is all set to launch the third smartphone in the lineup — Vivo NEX 2.

Today, on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, a Vivo official said that the Vivo NEX 2 is not far away from customers however the specific timeline for the launch has not been revealed yet.

The Vivo NEX 2 will be the successor to the Vivo NEX Dual Screen Edition which was launched in China in December 2018. The phone comes with a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED bezel-less display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display offers 91.63 percent screen-to-body ratio.

The rear display is equally a quality Super AMOLED instead of a grayscale display, which is of 5.49-inch with the traditional Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 16:9 aspect ratio. As expected, the Vivo NEX Dual is powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset.

It comes with 10GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage without support for a microSD card slot for expandable storage. As for the camera setup, it features a 12MP sensor with OIS and f/1.79 aperture lens while the secondary camera has a 2MP depth sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. The third camera is a 3D ToF (Time of Flight) and is deployed primarily for advanced face unlock.

Apart from support for Face Unlock feature, the smartphone also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor. For software, the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition comes with Android 9.0 Pie modified with Funtouch OS 4.5 and also comes with Vivo’s JOVI voice assistant. The device gets its juice from a 3,500mAh battery with support for 10V/2.25A fast charging.
