The Snapdragon 665 launched alongside the Snapdragon 730 and Snapdragon 730G. Unlike the Snapdragon 730, we are yet to see a manufacturer announce a phone with the new Snapdragon 600 series chipset. However, that may change by May 30.

Snapdragon 665

According to a tweet by Sudhanshu Ambhore (@Sudhanshu1414), the first Snapdragon 665-powered device will be unveiled on May 30 which is just a few days from now. Although he didn’t reveal the manufacturer, Meizu is the only phone maker with a launch scheduled for that day which is for the Meizu 16Xs.

The Meizu 16Xs, according to TENAA, is powered by an octa-core chipset clocked at 2.0GHz. The Snapdragon 665 is also an 8-core processor with a 2.0GHz clock speed. If the Meizu 16Xs is indeed powered by the Snapdragon 665, it is a downgrade in terms of performance from its predecessor.

The Meizu 16X is powered by the Snapdragon 710, which not only uses more powerful Kryo 360 cores compared to the SD665’s Kryo 260 cores but also has a smaller node (10nm) as against the SD665’s 11nm node.

The Snapdragon 665 comes with an Adreno 610 AIE GPU, an AI Engine with support for 3D Face Unlock and AI features that are 2x faster than that of the Snapdragon 660. It supports Bluetooth 5.0, USB 3.1, 4K video recording, slow-motion recording up to 120fps at 1080p and also Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology.
