Last week Realme announced that it will launch the world’s first smartphone with a 64MP camera on August 8. Redmi decided to one-up its latest rival as a leaked poster has revealed it has an event on August 7, a day before Realme’s event.

Redmi August 7 launch

The poster which was shared on Twitter by Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings). The poster which has a camera shutter design has a tagline that reads “Images of The Future”. At the top-right corner sits the Redmi and Mi logos.

We are not sure if the phone will actually launch on that day as a rough translation of the text below the tag line seems to hint that the event is a showcase of the future of mobile photography and not the phone itself. This is just speculation, so take it with a grain of salt.

Ice Universe said the phone will launch this month, so we may get more details about the device at Wednesday’s event if it doesn’t actually launch on that day.

Realme’s August 8 event is also said to be a demo too and not a proper phone launch according to the tweet below by Sudhanshu Ambhore.

The new 64MP camera technology is expected to change the mobile photography game but a lot of folks are not excited as the 64MP sensor uses Pixel Binning just like the 48MP camera. In this case, it combines four 16MP shots into a 64MP image that is brighter when you shoot in low-light.
