There are a lot of very affordable flagship phones with top-tier specifications in China, but a lot of them often do not hit the global market. Well, that is not the case with three amazing flagships recently unveiled in China. A lot of people were left as surprised as happy after hearing that Lenovo Z6 Pro, Nubia Z20 and Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro (which is known in China as the Redmi K20 Pro) would hit the global market. All of them come with flagship-class specifications but they carry an upper-midrange price. That is why they are three of the most interesting choices for advanced users with a limited budget. And that is also why we think this is one of the most interesting comparisons we published this year. Have fun 🙂

Design

Just like its predecessor Nubia X, the new Nubia Z20 left everyone amazed especially because of its dual display. Most of the surface of the phone is covered by displays, and that is the main reason why it is my favorite one in terms of design. Another reason is the presence of a high screen-to-body ratio without the need of a notch, unlike the Lenovo Z6 Pro which comes with a waterdrop display. So, the second place goes to the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro: another notch-less device which boasts a motorized pop-up camera under the display, as well as a premium rear glass and an aluminum frame.

Display

Just because it has two displays, Nubia Z20 deserves a gold medal in this comparison. But that is not all: the primary display even boasts amazing colors thanks to the AMOLED and HDR10 technologies. The secondary display is placed on the back and it is a 5.1-inch AMOLED panel which allows a more efficient battery saving as well as using the rear camera department as front cameras. Further, the rear display is easier to use with one hand and for simpler tasks. While Nubia Z20 is the most versatile one, Lenovo Z6 Pro seems to have an even better color reproduction, at least on the paper.

Hardware/Software

Judging by the specs on the paper, Nubia Z20 is the most powerful handset of the trio. It is the world’s third smartphone (and the world’s first non-gaming phone) to be powered by the new Snapdragon 855+ which delivers 15 percent more graphics performance and a higher clock frequency (2.96 GHz vs 2.84 GHz) compared to the Snapdragon 855 found on the Xiaomi Mi 9T and Lenovo Z6 Pro. On the other hand, Lenovo Z6 Pro offers a higher-end memory configuration with up to 12 GB of RAM, while Nubia Z20 stops at 8 GB of RAM. Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro loses the comparison with just 6 GB of RAM, but it has a very functional user interface (MIUI).

Camera

If we talk about rear cameras, Nubia Z20 seems the most interesting (on the paper). It is the only to feature optical stabilization for the main sensor, it has a brighter focal aperture and even 3x optical zoom. Last but not least, its rear cameras can be used as front cameras thanks to the secondary display placed on the back (the phone does not have a selfie snapper).

Battery

Same battery capacity for each of these handsets: 4000 mAh. But thanks to the smaller secondary display and a more optimized chipset, we believe that Nubia Z20 may last more on a single charge.

Price

Nubia Z20, Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro and Lenovo Z6 Pro carry price tags of €450/$505, €430/$480 and €400/$450 respectively, in the Chinese market. We still do not know for sure how much they will cost globally. Overall, at least judging by the specs on the paper, Nubia Z20 deserves the victory of this comparison due to its better chipset, amazing cameras, and dual display.
