Xiaomi India has just launched the Mi A3 in India, the latest in the line of Xiaomi’s uber popular Android One series of devices. It’s the successor to the Mi A2 that was launched earlier last year, and as a Mi A-series device, it comes running fully stock Android as well.

The Mi A3 features a 6.08-inch Super AMOLED Dot Drop Display, which comes with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and has an HD+ resolution (1560×720). This display is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5, which should leave it more resistant to scratching and the like. The display also comes integrated with an in-screen fingerprint sensor for authentication.

The Mi A3 is powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 665 SoC, which features 8 Kryo 260 CPU cores and an Adreno 610 GPU. In terms of storage, the Mi A3 comes in two different configurations, a 4GB + 64GB variant and a 6GB + 128GB variant. These options can both be expanded via microSD to upto 256GB.

In the camera department, the Mi A3 can be considered as a notable upgrade from its predecessor, as it features AI-powered Triple rear cameras setup comprising of a 48MP primary camera sensor. The Sony IMX 586 sensor comes with an aperture of f/1.79. It is further paired with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP depth-sensing camera as well.

On the front, the Mi A3 features a 32MP AI-powered selfie shooter that sits comfortably in the notch of the phone. On top of snapping photos, the selfie shooter also does double duty as the authenticator for the AI Face Unlock feature as well. The video recording capabilities of the rear cameras include – 4K video capture at 30fps, EIS, Slow-mo recording and they also feature AI scene detection for upto 27 different scenes as well.

Powering everything is a 4030mAh battery that supports 18W Fast Charging via Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0. There’s no fast charger in the box unfortunately, so you’ll need to get that somewhere else. On top of that, you can expect the usual slew of stock Android features like Google Assistant integration, as well as timely updates.

So, what about the pricing? The Mi A3 starts at Rs 12,999 for 4GB + 64GB storage variant, while the 6GB + 128GB variant is priced at Rs 15,999. It’ll be available for purchase from Amazon, as well as Xiaomi’s own website. It comes in three different colours, those being Not Just Blue, More Than White and Kind of Grey. The first sale of the new Android One-powered Mi A3 is scheduled for August 23.
