Huawei’s premium next-generation Mate 30 series flagship smartphones are getting launched on 19th September in Munich, Germany and ahead of the phone’s launch most of the details have already leaked online.

As per the latest information, LG Display will be supplying flexible organic light emitting display (OLED) panels to Huawei for its upcoming flagship premium Mate 30 series smartphones.

The smartphone’s display comes with a ‘waterfall display’ design that makes the angles of both sides close to 90 degrees. Earlier, it was reported that Samsung Display is supplying Mate 30 series OLED panels. As per the source, waterfall display production requires cover glass processing technology and precise lamination processes.

Huawei sourced rigid OLED panels from Samsung Display but the flexible OLED panels were supplied by LG Display and BOE. The company has reportedly given LG Display and BOE a status of primary supplier of flexible OLED panels for Huawei smartphones.

For the P-series smartphones launched earlier this year, the company had sourced the 6.1-inch AMOLED display for P30 from Samsung Display but the P30 Pro’s 6.47-inch AMOLED display was provided by LG Display and China-based BOE.

According to the report from market researcher IHS Markit, the market share of mobile OLED shipments in the second quarter of this year is 82 percent for Samsung Display, 12 percent for BOE, and 2 percent for LG Display. It predicts that LG Display’s market share in 3Q and 4Q is forecasted to be 4 percent and 11 percent, respectively.

Rumors indicate that the Huawei Mate 30 Pro will come powered by a 4,500mAh battery with 40W fast charging support and 27W SuperWireless charging support. It is also expected to come packed with 8GB/12GB RAM along with 512GB onboard storage. The device will be powered by the company’s own Kirin 990 SoC and 90Hz AMOLED display.

It features a quad-camera setup on the back with sensors housed inside a circular housing. The device is also expected to come with IP68 ratings for water and dust resistance. It will come powered by EMUI 10 custom user interface based on the latest Android 10 operating system.
