Huawei today held its much-anticipated launch event in Munich, Germany where the Mate 30 series was the star product for the day. Apart from the Mate 30 smartphones, the tech giant also officially announced the Huawei Watch GT2. Huawei is always pushing the bar higher with each new product and the Watch GT 2 comes with several improved features over its predecessor. 

The Watch GT 2 is the second-generation model of the premium Huawei Watch GT that was launched last year. It adopts a more premium design than the previous iteration. The features onboard the smartwatch also saw several improvements over the previous version.Huawei Watch GT2

The watch adopts a 1.39-inch display with a 3D glass uni-surface. It comes in two sizes, a 42mm and 46mm versions. Both have two control buttons at the side which looks more sturdy than those on the Watch GT. Some of the spectacular features onboard the smartwatch includes underwater heart rate monitoring, Bluetooth call from a distance of up to 150m. Furthermore, the smartwatch comes with an ultra-long battery life that can last up to two weeks. Trust Huawei, it did compare the Watch GT 2 battery to that of the Apple Watch Series 5. On a typical daily use, the Watch GT2 can last up to 14 days whereas the Apple Watch Series 4 lasts less than a day. On GPS mode the Watch GT2 will ast up to 30 hours on a full charge and 24 hours when used for music playback.  The battery can last for 10 hours during Bluetooth call.

In terms of the specifications, the Watch GT 2 packs a Kirin A1 chip. It comes with an Always-On display, Find phone feature, flashlight, notification, alarm, in addition to regulars such as sleep monitoring, Bluetooth call, remote control camera, GPS and other functions. The watch will equally come in Sports and Classic versions. It also comes with 50ATM water resistance.

The Huawei Watch GT 2 will go on sale from October. The pricing starts at 229 Euros for the 42mm version and 249 Euros for the 46mm version.
