The day after Redmi Note 8 Pro made its official debut in Europe, Oppo’s sub-brand announced the Realme X2 which we can consider its perfect rival. Both come with a very high value for money, but also with another important quality: they are both equipped with a gaming-centric midrange chipset. Alongside these devices, even the recently-announced Oppo Reno2 which will soon launch in the European market comes with a gaming-centric midrange mobile platform. That is the reason why we decided to compare the specifications of these three powerful smartphones which carry very interesting prices.

Design
There is no doubt about the fact that Oppo Reno2 provides the best build quality and even the most innovative design. First of all, it has the highest screen-to-body ratio as well as a notch-less display, thanks to the pop-up camera housed in a motorized pop-up slider. Further, the phone’s body consists of a Gorilla Glass 6 glass back and an aluminum frame, while both Realme X2 and Redmi Note 8 Pro have a plastic frame and a glass back protected by Gorilla Glass 5.
Display
Besides having a better design according to my tastes, Oppo Reno2 also provides a wide display with higher image quality. It is not a top-tier panel, but it is still a Super AMOLED panel with realistic colors. Right after, we got the Realme X2 which still comes with a Super AMOLED display, but it is a smaller screen and it is notched. Redmi Note 8 Pro is the most disappointing one as it is equipped with a classic LCD panel which does not integrate a fingerprint reader.
Specs & Software
There are very marginal differences between the performances provided by the Snapdragon 730G and the MediaTek Helio G90T chipsets. What differs is the energy consumption: the Snapdragon 730G is a lot more efficient thanks to its 8 nm production process. Further, you should consider memory configurations. Given that Realme X2 comes with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage, it is more powerful on the paper. That is the same for the Oppo Reno2 boasting the same memory configuration.
Camera
The camera champion of this trio is the Oppo Reno2. Despite Realme X2 and Redmi Note 8 Pro come with higher resolutions for the main sensor, Oppo Reno2 has a higher-end sensor supporting the optical stabilization. Further, it has a front-facing LED flash allowing to take selfies even in the dark. The Oppo Reno2 also comes with a better secondary sensor, so there is definitely no challenge. Between Realme XT and Redmi Note 8 Pro, the former wins because it boasts a way better front camera.
Battery
Redmi Note 8 Pro has a bigger battery, but its mobile platform is more energy-demanding, that is why we believe Realme X2 may effectively last more on a single charge. Realme X2 might also last more than Oppo Reno2 since it has to manage a smaller display and it comes with a UFS 2.1 storage. It also comes with the fastest charging technology: it is able to reach up to 67 percent in 30 minutes thanks to VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 technology.
Price
Realme XT starts from €210/$231, Redmi Note 8 Pro carries a €250/$275 price tag, and Oppo Reno2 launched with a higher €470/$517 price (8/256 GB). Oppo Reno 2 wins the specs comparison as it boasts a better build quality and a higher-end camera department, while I think overall Realme XT offers the highest value for money.
