DisplayMate recently rated Apple‘s latest flagship iPhone 11 Pro Max as one of the smartphones with the “Best Smartphone Displays.” We believe it is in the same category as Galaxy Note 10 and Huawei Mate 30 Pro. Well, Google has released its 2019 flagship Pixel phones. The Pixel 4 XL has now been added to DisplayMate’s top-tier display category where it got an A+ rating.

The A+ rating is usually awarded to smartphones with a topnotch display. Premium flagships like the OnePlus 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S10 have also been given the award this year. Last year’s Pixel flagship, the Pixel 3 XL, received the award as well.

The Pixel 4 XL presents with a 6.3-inch display having a resolution of 3,040 x 1,440 pixels and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The display is said to be 22% larger than the average 16:9 display. The display comes with a 90Hz refresh rate which is 50% higher than the average smartphone. The higher refresh rate offers much smoother scrolling, video playback, and UI animations. The phone also optimises battery life by switching automatically between 90 and 60Hz to minimize battery consumption and optimize content quality.

Google says the Pixel 4 XL’s display is 10% brighter, has more color accurate, and is more power-efficient than last year’s Pixel. On its part, DisplayMate describes the Pixel 4 XL’s OLED display as “visually indistinguishable from perfect,” making it the obvious selection as one of the best smartphone displays on the market.
