You might have your eyes on the Microsoft Duo, but that’s not coming anytime soon. So what if you really want a brand new dual screen device, and you want it now? LG has you covered with their latest device, the LG G8X ThinQ. It’s essentially just a slightly changed version of the LG G8, but this time it comes with a Dual Screen case.

The G8X ThinQ is a unique take on a dual-screen phone. Instead of using a foldable screen, like Samsung’s Galaxy Fold, or attaching an entire second screen with a hinge, like Microsoft’s upcoming Surface Duo, LG just made a normal phone with one screen. The second screen is based entirely within a case that the G8X slips into.

The phone itself has a 6.4-inch 1080p OLED display. The Dual Screen case adds a second 6.4-inch 1080p OLED, as well as a 2.1-inch monochrome display on the outside. It’s plenty powerful, too, with a Snapdragon 855 chipset, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 4,000mAh battery. Even though it’s launching in November, it will come with Android 9 Pie out of the box instead of the newer Android 10.

Available in the US starting November 1st, the G8X ThinQ will arrive as a bundle with the LG Dual Screen accessory, starting at the price of $699. Using a USB-C connector, the combo offers up a number of different dual-screen experiences, including a standard two screen, a game pad and a keyboard, working as a sort of mini-laptop.

The phone has a 12MP f/1.8 primary rear camera while a 13MP f/2.4 super wide-angle camera is the second sensor. Its selfie camera is a 32MP f/1.9 sensor. The LG G8 ThinQ has features such as Night View, 4K Time Lapse, AI Action Shot, Cine Shot, and Studio Mode.

Other features are an in-display fingerprint scanner, 2.4W stereo speaker, dedicated Google Assistant button, DTS:X Surround Sound, IP68 water and dust resistance, and a 4000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0.

In the following weeks LG will then bring the LG G 8X ThinQ to more key markets, including Brazil, Japan, Germany, Mexico, Spain and Turkey. A full list of countries has yet to be revealed, so stay tuned for that.
