The OnePlus 7T Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition were announced nearly two weeks ago in London. However, OnePlus didn’t announce a 5G version of the device like it did with the OnePlus 7 Pro. When asked why there wasn’t a 5G version in an interview, Pete Lau said they have not seen enough of an opportunity to launch a second 5G device.

That opportunity must have presented itself in so short a time as the OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren was announced today. This is a 5G version of the McLaren Edition and it will be available in the US as a T-Mobile exclusive.

OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren

This is definitely exciting news for OnePlus fans who are on the Magenta network as the OnePlus 7T Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition are not sold in the US.

T-Mobile says the new OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren will take advantage of their 5G network which uses the 600MHz spectrum. The 5G network is expected to be available to about 200 million people across the US by the end of the year.

The phone shares the same specs as the standard McLaren Edition but adds a Snapdragon X55 5G modem. So you get a 6.67-inch curved AMOLED QHD+ screen, a Snapdragon 855+ processor, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. A 48MP + 16MP + 8MP triple camera setup sits on the back of the device while a 16MP pop-up selfie camera is available for selfies. The phone also has an in-display fingerprint scanner, runs Android 10, and packs a 4085mAh battery with support for Warp Charge 30T.

OnePlus and T-Mobile are yet to announce a price and date of release but pre-registration has begun.
