Xiaomi along with another Chinese manufacturer named Momoda has developed an affordable massage chair which is currently available on the former’s crowdfunding website Youpin. Like most other offerings from Xiaomi, the latest massage chair carries an aggressive price tag and is offered for 2799 Yuan ($ 400).
The massage chair from Xiaomi measures 1250 x 980 x 630 mm and weighs 42 kg. According to the company, the product has been designed thoughtfully and its recline feature can work even if it is placed next to a wall. Consequently, it helps in saving space and user’s don’t need to move it every time it is used.
The massage chair is covered with soft PU leather which conceals all its inner moving parts. The chair can be used to massage three areas of the body which include legs, lower back and neck/shoulder area. The leg massager has a total of 12 airbags which can compress and decompress to boost blood flow and alleviate stiffness in both calves and feet.
The waist region has four heating pads which are turned on alternatively at intervals of 1 minute that once again helps in increasing the blood flow. The neck and shoulder massager makes use of 6 roller wheels which mimics the hand movements of a massage therapist. The internal arms holding these rollers can be extended or retracted to accommodate users of different height, ranging from 150 cm to 190 cm.

All the options and features on the massage chair can be operated via a centralised control unit which is placed where the right arm of the user would rest. It is offered in two colour options which include Light Brown and Light Grey.
Surprisingly, Xiaomi’s original crowdfunding goal has already been achieved over 9 folds and 15 days are still left in the campaign. Even though the massage chair is currently offered in China, the company could consider bringing to other regions if the demand persists.
