The coronavirus pandemic keeps throwing a spanner in the works of businesses and individuals alike. Just yesterday, we reported that several phone manufacturers including Apple, Samsung, and OPPO have suspended production in India. Now Xiaomi has announced that its Mi 10 5G launch scheduled for the last day of March has now been postponed.

The announcement was made earlier today by Manu Kumar Jain on Twiter. The MD of Xiaomi India said they had to take the decision after ”careful deliberation”. The official statement added that a new date will be released soon.

While the Indian launch has been postponed, it appears the global launch scheduled for Friday, March 27 is still on track. The March 27 launch is an online-only event and will be live-streamed.

The Mi 10 5G is the only one of the Mi 10 series coming to India. The more expensive Pro model will not be coming to the country. Manu also revealed last week that the Mi 10 will cost more in India due to the phone being a direct import and an increase in the GST tax on mobile phones. Another reason is the depreciating INR against the USD.

The Xiaomi Mi 10 is a Snapdragon 865-powered phone with a 6.67-inch AMOLED FHD+ display. It has four rear cameras which include a 108MP primary camera. There is a 20MP camera in front for selfies. The phone packs a 4780mAh battery with support for 30W wireless charging and 30W wired fast charging.
