The Indian government announced a nationwide shutdown for 21 days starting today to fight the outbreak of coronavirus in the country. Even before that, almost all the smartphone companies operating in India shut down their manufacturing facilities, postponed the launches of their new smartphones, and some of them even started helping the government by donating necessary aids. Now, OnePlus also joins this bandwagon by closing all its retail stores across the country till April 14. The company has also placed a hold on new orders on its website for the time being.
OnePlus is one of the most popular smartphone brands in India. In fact, it is the country’s top premium smartphone brand for a few quarters now. However, it took more time than any other well-known brand in India to announce its measures to counter the COVID-19 pandemic.
OnePlus India took it to Twitter to announce that it is abiding the mandate issued by the government of India by closing its official retail stores across the country till April 14. Additionally, it also says that it will stop taking all new orders placed on its official website. That means even if you order a OnePlus product online from the official website, it will be shipping post-April 14, i.e. after the end of 21 days shut down ordered by the government or even later depending on the situation.
Lastly, OnePlus also assures that it is monitoring the situation closely and will resume sales as soon as it will be able to.
