Xiaomi India had recently launched the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max smartphones in China. However, since these 4G phones are designed for overseas markets, they won’t be launching in China. It is speculated that the company will be launching a 5G-ready Redmi Note series smartphone in China in the near future. Today, a new handset with model number M2002J9E appeared on the database of 3C authority of China. It seems to be the first 5G-ready Redmi Note series phone from the company.
Last month, a well-known tipster from China had claimed that a forthcoming Redmi Note series phone will be arriving with a 22.5W fast charger. Today, the same phone has bagged certification from the 3c authority. The Xiaomi M2002J9E 5G phone appeared on 3C along with a charger that has a model number of MDY-11-EM. The charger supports a maximum charging rate of 22.5W.
Recently, the same tipster had claimed that Redmi is planning to discontinue the Redmi K30 4G. The probable reason behind it could be that the company wants to replace it with a cheaper 5G smartphone. The handset could be replaced by the new Redmi Note series smartphone. It is rumored to be priced between 1,000 Yuan (~$141) and 1,500 Yuan (~$212). Hence, it could be arriving as the cheapest 5G-ready smartphone in China. It could be driven by the MediaTek Dimensity 800 5G SoC.
There is no word on the other specifications of the rumored Redmi Note 5G phone for China. The handset is expected to soon surface on TENAA with its entire specifications. It could be made official in April.
In related news, Xiaomi announced the Redmi Note 9 Pro phone with a slightly different moniker of Redmi Note 9S moniker in Malaysia. The handset is fitted with a full HD+ 6.67-inch IPS LCD display with a punch-hole for its 16-megapixel selfie camera. Its rear is fitted with a square-shaped module that includes a 48-megapixel main lens, an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor, a 5-megapixel macro lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. It is powered by Snapdragon 720G, 6 GB of RAM and a, 5020mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging support.
