Recently, the Xiaomi Redmi 9 moniker was found with model number M2004J19G through its appearance on Xiaomi’s RF Exposure webpage. The M2004J19G model number has been previously spotted at 3C and EEC certification bodies. Now, the smartphone has received approval from the FCC authority in the U.S. The FCC documents of the Redmi 9 has revealed some of its key details.
The FCC listing has revealed that the Redmi 9 will come preinstalled with MIUI 11. The custom skin will be probably over the Android 10 OS.
The rated capacity of Redmi 9’s battery is mentioned as 4,920mAh. This indicates that the phone could be shipping with a battery that has a typical capacity of 5,000mAh. The 3C appearance of the phone had revealed that it could be coming with a 10W charger. If it happens, it will be a downgrade as the predecessor Redmi 8 phone was made available with an 18W fast charger.
The Redmi 8 was equipped with a 6.22-inch display. The display size of the Redmi 9 is not mentioned in its FCC documents. However, it revealed that the phone measures 174mm. This suggests that the Redmi 9 could be equipped with a large-sized display of around 6.6 inches. The FCC documents have also revealed that the phone supports dual-band Wi-Fi and it is a 4G LTE device.
In March, a Xiaomi phone codenamed as Merlin was spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking platform. The listing revealed that the phone is powered by Helio G70 chipset and 6 GB of RAM. Speculations have it that the Xiaomi Merlin phone could be the upcoming Redmi 9 handset. Other rumors have revealed that the Redmi 9 will be sporting a quad-camera system on its back.
Redmi is expected to hold a launch event in China later this month. The Redmi 9 series may get announced at the event.
