Samsung‘s smartwatch business may be behind Apple but as the second-largest smartwatch maker, the category is an important one for the company. The Korean giant has always deployed innovation, one of such is the rotating bezel first introduced on the Gear S3. However, when the company scrapped the Gear series for the Galaxy Watch Active, the physical rotating bezel was removed.Gear S3

Samsung may have got plans to bring the rotating bezel back on the upcoming Galaxy Watch. SamMobile quotes an unnamed source to have hinted that the next-gen Galaxy Watch smartwatch will have a design that incorporates the rotating bezel. Samsung is expected to announce its next smartwatch in the summer.

After the removal of the physical rotating bezel, Samsung experimented with a touch bezel on the Galaxy Watch Active 2. This rumour may be an indication that the touch bezel isn’t as good as the rotating one hence the “decision” to return to it.

The report also rumours the upcoming Galaxy Watch to have new sensors. The new sensors include an ECG and blood pressure monitor. This will further help users keep track of their personal health and fitness. Moreso, the ECG function has been a success with the Apple Watch, having been credited with saving the life of some users by detecting inaccurate heartbeats.

The FCC listing for the Galaxy Watch also shows the device will come in two different sizes. One will have a 45mm screen while the other will measure 41mm. It’ll also come in Wi-Fi and LTE versions just like past smartwatches from Samsung. In addition, Samsung will also release a premium titanium version alongside the standard version.

There is no word yet on its launch date but there are speculations that it would be launched on the same day as the Galaxy Note 20.
