Xiaomi officially launches Redmi 9 in Spain after going on sale on Lazada and GizTop last week ahead of any official announcement. The phone comes in two storage configurations – 3GB + 32GB / 4GB + 64GB and costs €149 and €179 respectively. It is available in three color options – Carbon Grey, Sunset Purple, and Ocean Green.

The newly launched Redmi 9 is the direct successor to last year’s Redmi 8. It comes with better specifications overall and even features some firsts in the series. For instance, It is the first device in the Redmi number series phones to feature an FHD+ display and a quad-camera setup.

The Redmi 9 is powered by MediaTek Helio G80 SoC paired with 3GB/4GB LPDDR4X RAM and 32GB/64GB eMMC 5.1 ROM. It sports a  6.53-inch FHD+ IPS LCD panel with 19:5:9 aspect ratio, 394 PPI, 70% NTSC color gamut, 400 nits brightness, Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and a dew-drop notch. Thus, we can say that this handset comes with the best display ever in the series, at least on paper.

The body of the phone is made of polycarbonate (plastic) with a matte finish, unlike glossy on its predecessor. The back of the device houses a 13MP (primary) + 8MP (118° ultra-wide) + 5MP (macro) + 2MP (depth) quad-camera array and a fingerprint sensor. Whereas, the front camera is of 8MP.

Other features of the device include Dual SIM, 4G connectivity, VoLTE, single-band (2.4 GHz) WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, wireless FM radio, dedicated microSD card slot, multifunctional NFC, IR blaster, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C, MIUI 11 based on Android Pie, 5,020 mAh battery, and 18W fast charging.
