MediaTek‘s resurgence in the semiconductor industry may end up as a case study in a MBA program somewhere someday. The company was almost on the verge of being buried by Qualcomm, confined to the sales of just entry-level chipsets. However, it made a gradual comeback with its mid-range Helio lineup. Further, in a targeted move for the 5G era, the Dimensity processors are giving the Taiwanese fabless chipmaker a much-needed in-road into the high-end market. MediaTek

With the impressive products under the Dimesity 1000 and 800 series, the company is planning to cement its place in the segment with the impending release of the Dimensity 600 series. There are speculations that the new series will be unveiled before the end of this month or the end of September at the latest.

The report has it that although MediaTek is yet to release the new Dimensity 600 series, the company has received a large number of orders in advance. The report also disclosed that a number of OEMs will release products powered by the Dimensity 600 series in the second half of the year.

If this is true, it is an unprecedented feat for the chipmaker. It also suggests the chipset may have a decent price. Of course, it is a 5G chipset but specifications are not known at the moment.
