Huawei is expected to announce the Mate 40 series in September or October. The series will include a standard model called the Mate 40 and an advanced model named Huawei Mate 40 Pro. The latter is most likely to sport a waterfall curved edge display. The standard models in the Mate series that have launched in the past have always featured flat displays. A fresh leak reveals that the Huawei Mate 40 will be also flaunting a curved edge display.
A Chinese tipster has shared an image of the screen protector designed for the Huawei Mate 40. The image shows that it is curved towards the left and right edges. According to another tipster, the display of the Mate 40 will not as curvy as the waterfall display. Its curved screen will be like the Honor 30 Pro that came with a dual punch-hole 6.57-inch OLED panel.

The exact size of the Mate 40’s display is not known. However, it is likely to sport an OLED panel with an under-display fingerprint sensor. Rumors have it that it may carry support for the 90Hz refresh rate. The upcoming Mate 40 and Mate 40 pro could be fueled by 5nm Kirin 1000 (or Kirin 1020) chipset.
The Huawei Mate 40 series is said to be equipped with a 108-megapixel main camera that could be apart of the 9P FreeForm camera module. The 3D face recognition feature could be exclusively available on the Mate 40 Pro. The upgraded biometric recognition feature may allow users to authenticate payments.
There are rumors that Huawei may introduce Huawei MateStation dock for the Mate 40 series. The Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro may arrive with support for 66W fast charging.
