Goodix Technology, a China-based company that makes software and hardware semiconductor solutions, has announced that it has completed the acquisition of Dream Chip Technologies GmbH (DCT).

The company noted that the acquisition marks a key step for Goodix as the company is working on a diversified strategy and integrating global engineering talent. It will help to accelerate Goodix‘s ability to rapidly deliver integrated solutions for smart mobile devices and automotive applications, and expanding its customer base.

Commenting on this, David Zhang, CEO of Goodix said: “DCT’s track record of success and market validation is perfectly aligned with our strategic development in automotive applications and ISP offerings. Coupled with Goodix’s leading position in the marketplace, we are well-positioned to deliver compelling solutions to our combined customer base.”

DCT has a strong focus on autonomous systems, and with Goodix’s technology for different products in the automobile sector, the combined organization will further strengthen the company’s position in the market.

The German company is specialized in the development of large SoCs, FPGAs, embedded software, and systems. It also has an impressive image signal processing team that adds to Goodix’s arsenal of technologies for a complete and comprehensive R&D team.

Last year, Goodix had showcased its LCD in-display optical fingerprint solution and had said that it plans to mass-produce the technology in 2020. Along with that, the company is also planning to provide 5G terminals as well as biometric identification solutions with a better performance this year.
