Recently, it was reported by a leaker from China that Xiaomi Mi 10 series smartphones come with support for MEMC function but it isn’t enabled. Now, it is being claimed that the company could soon start rolling out OTA update to enable the MEMC feature.

For those who are unaware, MEMC stands for Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation. It basically adds frames to a video with a low frame rate so that it has a higher frame rate and gives a smooth effect.

To estimate the trajectory of the high-speed moving object in a picture, the technology makes use of hardware chips and some software algorithm. The MEMC technology was originally used in TVs and different companies have different names for it, including MotionFlow, TruMotion, Auto Motion Plus, SMR, etc.

Several flagship smartphones also come with support for MEMC technology, including the Black Shark 3, OPPO Find X2, and OnePlus 8, among others. Now, as per the reports, the Mi 10 series will also join the list soon.
