According to a SamMobile report, sources from South Korea have claimed that the tech giant will be making 700,000 to 800,000 units of the Galaxy Z Fold 2. Samsung is currently making the device in multiple production sites, including Brazil, South Korea, and Vietnam. An industry insider stated that the company manufacturing the foldable handset outside of its home country is indicative of the yield of its manufacturing process.

Reportedly, Samsung is now trying to cut down on manufacturing costs. Analysts have also claimed that the company might sell as many as three million units of foldable smartphones this year, which also includes the Galaxy Z Flip. Furthermore, this figure can grow as high as 8 million units by 2021, while Samsung is also rumored to be working on an affordable foldable device as well.

As of right now, only a few OEMs have launched their own foldable offerings, including Huawei, Microsoft, and Motorola. Samsung, at the moment, seems to be in the best possible position in terms of technology and development into this new breed of smartphones. Due to various advancements, it has been speculated that the company will take a leading position in the market for quite a while as well.
