In December of 2019, Redmi launched Redmi K30 4G/5G in China as its first smartphones to feature 120Hz refresh rate displays. The 4G variant later debuted as POCO X2 in India. The other such high refresh rate Redmi-branded devices are Redmi K30i, Redmi K30 Racing Edition, and Redmi K30 Ultra. Now, according to a new tip, the brand’s next such smartphone is not so far away.

Redmi 7

The display details about an upcoming Redmi smartphone come from 数码闲聊站 (Digital Chat Station) on Weibo. According to him, this device will sport a 6.67-inch LCD panel with FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a punch-hole.

If you are experiencing déjà vu, then you aren’t alone. Because these display specs sound exactly the same as that of the newly launched POCO X3. That means, for the first time, a POCO device could be rebranded as a Redmi handset.

Unfortunately, the marketing name of this mysterious smartphone is unknown at the moment. It should be mostly Redmi K40 or maybe a high-end model in the rumored Redmi Note 10 series.

Also, it is worth noting that China is phasing out 4G phones and therefore, even if this device turns out to be identical to POCO X3, it may launch with a 5G chipset instead of 4G Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G.
