Yesterday, Google started rolling out the October 2020 security patch to all the eligible Pixel smartphones. Anyway, they aren’t the first devices to receive the new monthly patch as that mantle belongs to the Galaxy A50. However, these builds not only patches the security vulnerabilities but also brings fixes for a ton of bugs.

Pixel smartphones are the only way to experience the best Android experience. But like any other handset, their software is filled with bugs. There have been multiple reports on issues with Pixels ever since the first model.

Thankfully, Google has a habit of fixing them sooner rather than later by taking feedbacks from users and media around the world. Now, with the October 2020 security patch build, the search giant has bundled a total of four fixes and three improvements.

The new build brings the following fixes for Pixel 2/2 XL, Pixel 3/3 XL, Pixel 3a/3a XL, Pixel 4/4 XL, and Pixel 4a.

  • Fix for some devices stuck during boot
  • Fix to prevent inadvertent disablement of call notifications
  • Fix for missing auto-rotate icon in certain device orientations
  • Fix for undetected overview swipe gesture in launcher

Talking about improvements, the first one listed below is applicable to all the Pixels while the last two is solely for Pixel 4a.

  • Improvement for auto-rotation in certain device orientations
  • Improvements to auto-brightness response in certain lighting conditions
  • Improvements for touch sensitivity with screen protectors

Having said that, the update is currently being rolled out in batches and should hit your Pixel handset in the coming days.
