It’s October and every company including Google is yet to update their security bulletin board. But ahead of that, Galaxy A50 becomes the first smartphone to get October 2020 security patch. The update is currently rolling out to SM-A505FN variant of the handset.

Samsung Galaxy A50

The Galaxy A50 was one of the first devices in the new revamped Galaxy A series of budget smartphones. It debuted in early 2019 with One UI based on Android Pie. It was later updated to Android 10-based One UI 2.0.

Just like most Samsung budget handsets, the Galaxy A50 is eligible for quarterly monthly security updates. Surprisingly, although there are plenty of other smartphones under this category, the more than a year old Galaxy 50 happens to receive the October 2020 security patch first.

That said, the update for the SM-A505FN variant of this phone comes with firmware version A505FNXXS5BTI9 and weighs around 123MB in size. As expected, the changelog for this update only mentions “The security of your device has been improved”.

To know the exact changes, we will have to wait until Samsung updates its monthly security bulletin board. Having said that, we expect the other variants of this phone to get this update in the coming days.
