Samsung unveiled the Galaxy W20 5G foldable phone in China. It arrived as a 5G-ready version of the original Galaxy Fold. It appears that Samsung is now gearing up to launch the Galaxy W21 5G phone in China as the successor of the Galaxy W20 5G. The reason behind it is that the Galaxy W21 5G has received approval from the 3C and TENAA authorities of China.
The Samsung W20 5G’s model number was SM-W2020 and the 3C and TENAA authorities have approved a Samsung device with SM-W2021. While the final name of the SM-W2021 is not known yet, it is speculated that it may go official as Samsung W21 5G.
Currently, the TENAA listing of the SM-W2021 has minimum information on its specs. The images of the device have not appeared yet at TENAA. The listing reveals that the device has 128.2 x 159.2 x 6.2mm dimensions and its main screen measures 6.23 inches. It has a 2090mAh + 2160mAh (rated value) dual-cell battery.
The Galaxy W21 5G will most likely end up as the Chinese version of the Galaxy Z Fold 2. The typical value of the Z Fold 2’s global variant has a 4,500mAh battery. The rated value of the Chinese model suggests that it could be equipped with a bit smaller battery. However, the dimensions and display size of the device matches with the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
The 3C certification of the Galaxy W21 5G revealed that it is a 5G-ready product. It also suggested that the device may ship with a 15W charger. In comparison, the Z Fold 2 supports 25W fast charging. The Galaxy W20 5G went official in November last year. Hence, it is likely that the Galaxy W21 5G could be debuting around the same time in China.
